In the process of creating this collection, I returned often to rivers as the subject. It wasn’t as if I went into the collection with a plan of painting rivers. It was what developed naturally over time. A subject I picked up and suddenly could not put down.

There’s just something about the way sunlight catches the moving water of rivers. How sometimes the light seems to almost sit on top of the water. And other times it illuminates what is beneath the surface. There are times it reflects the sky above. And others when the river appears to absorb all the colors turning them into something inky.
